Middle School Checklist for Parents


  • Start the conversation. Now is the time to let your child know their dreams can become a reality. Discussing extracurricular activities, academic goals, and potential career paths can help them get on track for their future.

  • Help your child set specific goals for each school year and encourage study habits that complement your child's goals. Set aside time to review your child’s work when possible.

  • Highlight the importance of arriving to school on time and ready to learn so your child is encouraged to participate.

  • Determine what high school will meet your child’s needs (public, private, charter, magnet, and collegiate vs. dual enrollment options).

  • Begin mapping out the expectations you have for your child during high school. This conversation should detail G.P.A minimums, extracurricular participation, and monetary limits/budgets.
